Introduction to Book Crafting for Children / with Cruinniú na nÓg

Join us for an exciting afternoon of book crafting for children! This in-person event is perfect for young book lovers who want to learn how to create and decorate their own books and write the letters of the Book of Kells. Our experienced instructors will guide children through the process of crafting their own handmade books.

The event will take place on Sat Jun 10 2023 at St Kevin’s Community Centre as part of the Cruinniú na nÓg programme. Suitable for ages 6-12.

For this event we are blending Irish bookmaking traditions with South American cartonera book making. During the event, children will have the opportunity to create and decorate their own book from cardboard and paper. They will also learn how to write Irish letters forms with a brush or quill, and get creative with colour plates from the Book of Kells.

Cardboard, paper, and crafting tools will be provided. Children are encouraged to bring wrapping paper or felt if they wish to use this to decorate their book.

Crafting will occur under supervision of participating staff and assistants. Places for this event will have to be pre-booked (free of charge). There will be three 1-hour long slots, each accommodating a maximum of 20 children. Please selected the ticket for your preferred time.
